Rafael Da Silva Left Istanbul to Take on a New Challenge
Rafael Da Silva, the former Manchester United defender has left Istanbul Basaksehir after playing at the club for just one season. He had been signed for the Super Lig side in 2020 September.
It was a two-year contract with the option of a third year and then the right-back played for the team in the Champions League the previous season against Manchester United in the group stages.
However, only after one year in Turkey, the defender has put up a farewell message on his Instagram page revealing that he is not a part of the club anymore and is searching for a new challenge.
In his official account, in a short statement, the Brazilian defender said that he would like to thank Okan Buruk and Başakşehir as they trusted his work. Thereafter, he posted on Twitter saying that the next team is loading, and this led to the speculation that he might be joining Fabio, his twin brother at the French club Nantes.
The 31-year-old football player has become a part of Manchester United in 2008 along with his identical twin. Ultimately, they became the heir to Gary Neville in the position of right-back, winning three titles in the Premier League, and playing in the two finals of the Champions League, and League Cup.
Then he left the club following the fallout in 2015 with Louis Van Gaal, becoming a part of Lyon, and spending all in all, 5 seasons in the Ligue before making his move to Istanbul. He has mutually terminated his control only after spending one year at the club. This is primarily because he feels that he is all set to take on a new challenge and make better progress in the time to come.
