Lyon continue Champions League charge

Paris Saint-Germain are only a few points away from securing themselves as the champions of the French League.

Even though PSG have a substantially big lead over every other club in Ligue 1, the remaining spots of the French League are being tightly contested with only a few points separating each team.

Lyon is working hard to keep hold of the 3rd position in the French League and displayed supremacy over their latest league opponents Guingamp. Lyon overcame Guingamp with a resounding final scoreboard of 5-1.

This victory gave Lyon 3 more points which is just barely enough for them to snatch the 3rd spot of the French league and securing a top 3 finish in this season is what the recently appointed manager Bruno Genesio is aiming to accomplish, especially considering that the league title is just too far-fetched to obtain.

Whilst those who normally bet on on the horse racing favourites with StanJames won't be tempted to back Lyon to make it into the top 3, there are increasing number of fans who are willing to back Lyon at the longer odds.

Bruno Genesio was selected as the new manager of Lyon back on December of 2015 and the 49 year old French coach has managed to keep the team in the top 5 spots of the league. His task in this season is to guide Lyon to a European spot that will allow them to compete in the Champions League for the upcoming season.
