REDKNAPP SLAMS PLAYERS
The QPR manager Harry Redknapp has blasted the performances of his overpaid players after the recent 1-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United. QPR came into the weekend having just won their first Premier league match of the season.
Redknapp said prior to the match that it was extremely important for them to build on the victory in order to get away from the relegation zone. However, they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Newcastle United. This was the first defeat suffered by the new manager since taking over the reins from Mark Hughes a few weeks ago.
This led to the manager coming out with his first rant since taking over as the QPR manager. He blasted the overpaid players for not performing well. He has also targeted a number of players like the defender José Bosingwa for not putting in the shift necessary to get a team out of the relegation zone. As a result of this defeat, QPR still remain five points off the prospect of safety. Under the regime of Mark Hughes, QPR brought in a number of players on excessive wages, which were far beyond the means of a club that could hold only 18,000 people in the stadium.
“There are a lot of players at this club who earn far too much money for what they are; far, far, far too much money for their ability and what they give to the club. I don’t really want to see the owners have their pants taken down like they have in the past. There’s a lot of agents made money out of them. I fined a player last week and he was earning more than any player earned at Tottenham,” Redknapp said after the 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United during the weekend.
