As indicated by most bookmaker odds, Rafael Da Silva recently brought his seven-year spell in English football with Manchester United to an end after joining French outfit Lyon.

This may not seem like a significant doubt step in his career. Lyon also have the capability to challenge for titles despite the presence of Paris St Germain. The defender, though, says that the prospect of representing the Brazilian national team is the biggest challenge for any player.

Brazil have a fanatic following of the game and each of the 200 million odd population has their own opinions about the game. This often leads to intense criticism of their own players.

After having recently experienced the World Cup on home soil, Brazil have been left with a bad taste in the mouth due to consecutive failures. Not only did the national team failed to win the World Cup in front of their own supporters, but they could not lift the Copa America 2015.

The latter went to the hands of Chile, who beat Argentina in the final. Due to his lack of form with United in the last couple of years, Rafael has not managed to feature for the national team since his last appearance in 2012. It remains to be seen if regular football at Lyon will help him in this aspect.

"To be selected by Brazil is harder than any club because the slightest mistake is not possible. I made a mistake in the final of the Olympic Games in 2012, a bad pass that led to Mexico scoring and we lost two goals to one. At a club when you make a mistake, you can make up for it straight away in the next match but it is not possible with Brazil," said the defender. Rafael has two appearances for the national team and both came in 2012.
