QPR THROUGH
Fabio Da Silva’s club, Queens Park Rangers, has secured a place in the third round of the capital 1 Cup by defeating Walsall. QPR won the match comfortably by 3-0.
The QPR players looked in complete control throughout the match and played with attacking attitude right from the first minute. Earlier, the manager of QPR, Mark Hughes, decided to go with the experienced goal keeper Robert Green instead of the new signing Cesar. There have been speculations that Green might have to sit on the bench, but, Hughes showed his confidence in Green and included him in the first XI.
QPR got ahead in the 29th minute of the match. Zamora set up the goal by giving a perfect pass to Shaun Wright-Phillips who completed the goal with a sliding shot. This was the first goal scored by Phillips since August 2010. There were no more goals in the first half and QPR was ahead by 1-0 at the end of the first half.
In the second half, Ashley Hemmings had almost scored the leveller for Walsall, but, his header hit the bar of the goal post and the chance went begging. Zamora doubled the lead of QPR in the 66th minute when he chipped the ball over the head of David Grof, the goal keeper of Walsall. The new signing of QPR, Jose Bosingwa, took the game out of the reach of Walsall by scoring a goal in the 84th minute of the match. This was the first goal of Bosingwa for QPR.
The Walsall team didn’t manage to find the net even a single time in the match and was completely outplayed by QPR. Mark Hughes seemed to be quite satisfied with the performance of his team in the match. As per Hughes, it was a team effort and every player of the team played his part. He would like the team to play in the same way in the further matches as well.
