Agent updates on future of Lyon skipper Nabil Fekir
The representative of Nabil Fekir has refused to confirm that his client could leave Lyon at the end of the season. The France international has been in a purple patch for Les Gones this term, and he has contributed 16 goals and assisted a further six goals in 24 league appearances for the club.
In an interview with Telefoot, agent Jean-Pierre Bernes admitted that it is too early to come to a conclusion over Fekir's future, and he is likely to have a personal decision with club president Jean-Michel Aulas to discuss what is best for both parties. He said: "It’s too early to talk about it. We have time, that’s the straight line, there are important goals and he is already in a big club. After considering my relationship with [Lyon president] Jean-Michel Aulas, we will make the best decision…"
The form of Fekir has once again reignited interest from long-time admirers Arsenal, and reports from the English media have suggested that the Gunners could pay up a fee of around £45m to prise him away from Les Gones before the summer World Cup. Despite being a natural attacker, Fekir has the added ability to play at the heart of the midfield, and he happened to produce his best performance of the campaign in the 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain, where he opened the scoring.
As his agent said, there is plenty of time between now and the end of the season, and they could yet be twists to the tale with Lyon still vying to finish in the Champions League positions - the last of which is occupied by Marseille. Since their win over Paris Saint-Germain, Lyon have gone winless in their last five league outings with just two draws, and they will be hoping to revive their form in the coming matches in order to cut their five-point deficit to third-placed Marseille.
