Tahith Chong says he made the right decision to remain with United
Dutch
youngster Tahith Chong has said that he made the right decision to remain with
Manchester United this summer. The attacker had received the opportunity to
return to the Netherlands with either Feyenoord or PSV Eindhoven on loan but he
ultimately decided to stay put with the Red Devils and fight for his position.

Speaking
to a local Dutch outlet, he said: “You discuss it with your family and the club
and then you choose what is best for you. That was staying with Manchester
United at that time. You never know in football, it’s hard to say that now. The
season is just starting so the focus is still there and not completely gone.
But you never know what can happen.”
Chong has
been regarded as one of the most talented players through the academy but he
has yet to make an appearance for the Red Devils this term. Mason Greenwood has
got the nod ahead of him after a strong pre-season and the onus now remains on
Chong to prove his worth to the manager by impressing for the development
squad.
United
boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not been afraid of playing young players from the
starting XI and so far, Daniel James has been afforded with the most number of
minutes. The Welshman joined the Red Devils as more of an unknown from Swansea
City but he has quickly become a fan favourite with three goals scored from the
opening four league matches.
Aside
from James, Scott McTominay and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been handed with regular
gametime during the opening phase of the campaign but it can be said that the
duo are far experienced than Chong with a couple of seasons of Premier League
football under their bag. Manchester United are scheduled to face Leicester
City at Old Trafford this weekend.
