The Red Devils are close to securing the services of the young left back Luke Shaw who has been a part of Southampton FC since the last couple of years.

Shaw is only 18 years of age at the moment, but, the pundits in England are rating him very highly.

United has lost a few defenders including Rio Ferdinand in the recent past. So, it is important for them to bring a quality guy in to make the fragile looking defence solid and they have decided that Shaw is the man for that. Since, he is very young at this point of time; he can give United a number of good years and thus, he is worth spending some extra bucks.

It’s unclear yet how much money United will have to pay to land Shaw at Old Trafford, but, the rumours are suggesting that it’s going to be a big one.

Ferdinand, who after spending 12 years at Manchester United is believed to be all set to go to Queens Park Rangers this Summer, wrote on Twitter that the move to bring in Shaw can prove to be a great one for United.

Ferdinand wrote, “Luke is a terrific footballer. Signing him is a great move if the Red Devils get a decade of high class football out of the young man.”

United has already made a big signing this summer. Yesterday, they confirmed the arrival of the Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera. They have bought him from Athletic Bilbao after paying close to 29 million Pounds.
Herrera had been at Bilbao since the last 3 years. He scored 7 goals for them in 94 league appearances.

United is looking for a turnaround in the upcoming season after failing to qualify even for the Champions League during the last season.
